A few years I ago I started to attend a bootcamp class at a nearby gym. I found the fast-paced and intense workouts addicting and quickly became a regular. Unfortunately, this gym no longer has a bootcamp class and I haven’t been able to find another bootcamp class that matches its intensity. What I loved most about bootcamp is that it gives you a full body workout; it combines plyometrics with weighted and cardiovascular exercises. I also love how in order to up the intensity of your workout you have options; for example, you can increase your weight or aim for more reps for a given time. I try to emulate the intensity found in bootcamp classes in my own workouts. I perform a higher number of reps of two to four exercises for three to four sets with little rest. I might do two to three different mini-circuits per workout. Usually by the end of a workout I’m soaked in sweat, and that’s how I like it! I saw a quote on pinterest the other day and it rang true to me: “If you still look cute at the end of a workout, you didn’t work hard enough!”
